Iguana comestible

I saw this fellow on my way to what has become a regular afternoon alfresco beer and light lunch hangout.
Where I discovered, despite having looked at the menu at least a half dozen times, that his relatives were offered as a dining choice. So here’s my iguana meat sandwich and the cover of the menu. (sort of tasted like long pork with the pleasant aftertaste of Xtian missionary)

CHAYA: the Mayan spinach

In one of those delightful occurrences of synchronicity that happen to us all from time to time, I went from learning of the existence of this highly nutritious plant to seeing some just laying on the sidewalk (with no nearby visible source) to my host showing me some growing in her garden to seeing the Chaya Café walking home the next day and having it for dinner that evening (2 days ago) and having it for breakfast yesterday.

Hello and Welcome to You Folks Everywhere

My favorite part of my blog’s statistical page is not so much the number of people that have viewed it as it is the amazing variety of nations in which you reside.

Discovering that I have at least a couple of viewers in Greece is a surprise but seeing that I have regular viewers in Myanmar, Serbia, the UAE, Slovakia, Hong Kong, Turkey, and Israel kind of blows my mind.

Here, take a look: https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?view=geoviews&summarize&numdays=-1

Hard work deserves beer!

I have been drinking beer and watching these guys work hanging cable in 95° heat for the last hour or so.
The head of this crew is the one wearing the NY Giants hat. With his permission I just bought them all a beer. Pretty sure I blew their minds.

Sorbeteria Colon Redux

Back at the Sorbeteria Colon.
This time sampling, by recommendation, the ‘Elote’ (that’s CORN for you gringos). It’s the white one with kernels in it. It was amazing, reminded me of the best NJ sweet corn of my youth.
The second, the yellow one was ‘Montecado’. It had a very familiar flavor that I could not place.
My handy pocket dictionary was no help. I had to Google it to find out and it was Instantly clear. It’s a Spanish shortbread that tastes like pound cake. It REALLY does!
