The amazing actress and bon vivant, Tallulah (“I’m as pure as the driven slush.”) Bankhead  was born 114 years ago on this date.

She caught pneumonia twice during filming but was rewarded by Hitchcock for being a trouper with a puppy he named for himself.

She rivaled her friend Dorothy Parker with her acerbic wit and comments, mostly at her own expense. Besides her famous slush quote above there are many more:
