This is a Ginkgo leaf. A species of plant that is over two hundred and fifty million years old. It’s ancient origins can be seen in it’s simple vein structure. they radiate out with minimal bifurcations. Take a look at the much younger maple leaf to see the difference. It’s veins fork and rejoin in a lace-like way. IMHO this is due to evolution creating complexity in the maple leaf.

I just swept up a bunch along with some acacia, box, and magnolia leaves from in front of my building.
